Since late 2016, I’ve been experimenting with 3D printing via additive processes to create architectural models. I create a 3D file suitable to print on iPads or a laptop using software such as SketchUp.

Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, defiled by a cactus?
Thankfully, it’s just a model 3D printed from a file I created, adapted into an architectural plant pot.
I did visit it once but forgotten the details. Fortunately, the #RIBACollections at the @RIBA Library had more info. pic.twitter.com/gohmX4mu0F

My own #BatterseaPowerStation with four Art Deco chimneys!
After two months of experimenting, I’ve created this model in SketchUp and successfully 3D printed it. Based on old @RIBA images, I had to the guess the proportions. #RIBACollections. pic.twitter.com/Az4byxgEjz

It has four chimneys now!
I’m making progress on recreating Battersea Power Station in 3D using SketchUp and images from @RIBA #RIBACollections.Along the way, I’ve been reading about its fascinating history via @UCL‘s Survey of London of Battersea https://t.co/GGxEYRqxqu pic.twitter.com/6Vzh6OisJp

Re-learning (or perhaps just learning!) #SketchUp to create a basic model of blocks of flats in Camden, using memory and Google Maps.
Next step: Let’s see if it’s 3D printable. pic.twitter.com/CWqu3ZTE3R

The rather futuristic-looking visualisation of the movement of the printer head during the #3Dprinting of my #SketchUp model. pic.twitter.com/W3yoG30mMS

Finished! My #SketchUp model has been successfully 3D printed. Interesting to see what artefacts were created after the 2-hour print and the details that didn’t print at 8x6cm size.

I find Chinese difficult enough to write without #3Dprinting it too! Using a bit of calligraphy, a laptop, SketchUp and a 3D printer, I created this rather rough model. pic.twitter.com/Ex4VLCJkRm

Inspired by #RIBACollections, our @RIBA Learning team 3D printed Euston Arch. Our students + lifelong learners will be testing it out soon. pic.twitter.com/GixAn5Aqlc
