Brixton at night can be magical…

Brixton is alive both night and day but never in the same way; the people and the buildings themselves appear differently depending on the time. At night, the giant rainbow sign at the front of the Reliance Arcade is transformed when lit up. It’s quite a landmark. I had thought it was curved neon lights, but recently realised it’s white lights reflected off a series of solid coloured arches. It’s worth visiting and the whole building was beautifully restored in 2019.

Crossing the traffic on Brixton Road is always tricky, the area is no longer quiet now that lockdown has eased and most people have seemed to returned to ‘normal’ behaviour. I’m not used to drawing vehicles, I hope their inclusion in my latest iPad drawing has paid off.
