Four-year drawing project 2008-12

Video (59 seconds) recording my progress over four years.

Ink drawing

In 2008, without any idea of how long it would take me, I started a drawing of a Victorian block containing flats and shops just off the busy Uxbridge Road in Acton, London. It was just a short walk from a flat I used to live in. Using pencil to sketch and then overlaid in pen, on an A3-size paper I recreated the details of this rather ordinary though run-down building.

As well as studying for an MA, I had to move several times and change jobs even more times during the four years it took me to complete this drawing. So, it was aways difficult to find time for this work and on some days I managed to draw only a single brick!
