An architectural masterpiece.
This drawing was inspired by a fascinating architectural tour of 55 Broadway, the Art Deco headquarters of London Underground. I’ve wanted to go in and see it ever since I first saw a dramatic drawing of it at the RIBA many years ago. One of the guides recommended that I go to Victoria Street and catch a temporary and impressive view opened up by the demolition of the nearby New Scotland Yard building. Sitting in a branch of Starbucks without even buying anything, I spent 50 minutes drawing that view of 55 Broadway. I resisted the urge to edit it after and the image remains what I saw and created onsite.
